America’s sweethearts should be a Chinese pairs team
Don’t let nationalism keep you from appreciating greatness!
Over the next few weeks, American news media will flood you with stories about American Olympic athletes. It makes sense. A lot of people are watching sports they don’t really know with athletes they haven’t heard of. It’s easy to just pick the one from your country and cheer them on. I’m here to tell you, do not take that easy path. If you do, you will miss out on two of the greatest figure skaters of all time: Wenjing Sui and Cong Han.
Sui and Han are a Chinese pairs team. They won silver at the last Olympics (incorrect! should have been gold!), and either they win here or I pretend they did anyway. They’re hilarious, sweet, and the most incredible pairs skaters I’ve ever seen.
But don’t take my word for it, here is a visual argument for why you should let them steal your heart.
